Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator

To start in September 2023, we are seeking an exceptional SEN Co-ordinator who is able to develop and inspire our pupils and wishes to participate in and contribute to the life of the School as a whole.

The Role

As SENCO, you will lead and manage the Educational Support Department, to ensure that appropriate support is given to individual pupils to help them achieve their academic potential. Liaising with the Emotional well being team, visiting professionals and the Examination office you will be responsible for identifying the need for, and organising provision for all pupils identified with a special educational need or disability. As the lead specialist and assessor within the Educational Support department, you will have management responsibility for the Educational support teachers and arrange the department teaching timetable, in addition to coordinating the use or appropriate external educational support and expertise.

The busy Educational Support department offers individual or small group support to those who experience problems associated with a full range of specific learning difficulties and disabilities with an educational impact. The department echoes the School ethos, valuing the richness of diversity of its pupils and always strive to ensure that all pupils have a fulfilled and balanced curriculum, which nurtures and enhances individuals. By it's nature Educational Support focuses on the individual and we therefore aim to support areas of difficulty by designing programmes that play into each pupil's strengths. They are proud to deliver Educational support in a variety of ways, offering occasional or long term support in an individual or group setting, attend mainstream classes to offer strategic support as well running bookable Study Skills surgery and delivering whole year assemblies and presentations.
