We are looking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher for this academically selective school. The person must be able to teach Religious Studies to GCSE, with the ability to teach to A Level desirable.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, and no experience of working in the independent sector is required. A willingness to participate in the wider life of the School with pastoral care duties and help with co-curricular activities is expected. The post would suit a newly qualified entrant as well as a more experienced member of staff.

The Religious Studies Department
Religious Studies is taught throughout the school; the scheme of work followed in the Lower School allows for academic engagement and promotes the understanding of various religious and non-religious worldviews as well as different ways of engaging with these (i.e. via various disciplines).
The department enjoys considering popularity and success at both GCSE and A level and it is pleasing to see girls progress to reading Philosophy, Theology, Religious Studies and related subjects at university.
The GCSE is offered as an option in Years 10 and 11. The students follow the full course AQA syllabus focusing on Christianity, Islam and four philosophical and ethical themes. Girls achieve excellent results and there are always good numbers continuing with the subject post 16. For A level the OCR syllabus is followed where Christianity is studied for the religion paper.
Each year group undertakes a trip which connects to the topics being studied (for example, in Year 9 we visit Coventry Cathedral for their Truth and Reconciliation tour as this links to a unit on Religion, Peace and Conflict). We also run the regional Philosothon for schools in the West Midlands and organise activities to promote an inter-disciplinary exploration of topics (such as whether AI should be considered persons). In addition, the department helps students to take part in competitions and we have regular visitors from academics to contribute to the enrichment work for the sixth form.
