Teacher of Academic Music

Chetham’s School of Music is seeking a Teacher of Academic Music to join the internationally renowned specialist music school located in the city centre of Manchester. Chetham’s is a magical place, home to the UK’s largest specialist music school, the oldest library in the English-speaking world, and a world-class concert venue, all in the heart of Manchester.

 The job

  • We are looking for a special person who can come and join our team of staff and students. You will need to be an outstanding teacher of music, inspirational, innovative and a team player with strengths across the range of academic music.
  • You will need to be able to teach from Key Stage 3 to A Level as part of a large, supportive department. You will also need to enjoy teaching young musical children and know how to motivate, challenge and support them in their musical journey.
  • Full-time, permanent position.
  • Start date September 2025 (subject to relevant checks).

Chair of the Feoffees

Chetham’s School of Music is seeking a Chair of the Feoffees to join the internationally renowned specialist music school located in city centre Manchester.  Chetham’s is a magical place, home to the UK’s largest specialist music school, the oldest library in the English speaking world and a world-class concert venue all in the heart of Manchester.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint, in a voluntary capacity, an individual with a background in strategic leadership and strong business and financial acumen to lead our non-executive board of Feoffees. Your background does not necessarily have to be in education, heritage, charities or the arts, but you must have a passion for all the benefits they can bring.

As Chair of the Feoffees, your role is to work alongside the School Governors, Library Committee and Senior Leadership. Your leadership of the Foundation will enable it to achieve its vision and strategic ambition, including the provision of facilities and buildings that are commensurate with a world-leading institution.

Security Officer

Chetham’s School of Music is seeking a Security Officer to join the internationally renowned specialist music school located in city centre Manchester.  Chetham’s is a magical place, home to the UK’s largest specialist music school, the oldest library in the English speaking world and a world-class concert venue all in the heart of Manchester.

The job

  • This is a full-time position working 12 hours per shift worked on a rota of day and night shifts with a requirement to cover colleagues’ leave which will be paid as overtime.  Bank holidays will be normal working days dependant on the shift pattern, payment for these days is included in the annual salary.
  • To work as a Security Officer on the shift rota, undertaking the provision of general security to the School premises and grounds throughout the year recording and logging all patrols.
  • Provide a courteous and professional comprehensive service to staff and students at Chetham’s, Visitors, Contractors and the general public, providing assistance, directions, help and accurate advice.

In return

  • Salary – £26,573 per annum (Scale Point 16-18)
  • The post holder is entitled to paid annual leave of 6 weeks (6 weeks of 4 days including an allowance for bank holidays) to fit in with the existing shift pattern.

Senior Venue Technicians

Stoller Hall is seeking Senior Venue Technicians to join the internationally renowned specialist music school located in the city center of Manchester. Chetham’s is a magical place, home to the UK’s largest specialist music school, the oldest library in the English-speaking world, and a world-class concert venue, all in the heart of Manchester.

The job

• The Stoller Hall is seeking Senior Venue Technicians who will work closely with the Technical Manager to ensure the effective delivery of all performances, events, and conferences at The Stoller Hall and our other performance spaces across the site, including pop-up events in the Courtyard and Atrium.
• You will manage the stage, technical, and operational aspects of the concerts and events and deputise for the Technical Manager, acting as the lead contact for visiting artists and clients on the day as required. You will prepare, rig, and operate sound, lighting, audio-visual, projection, and staging equipment as needed, liaising with visiting artists, promoters, and clients, as well as members of staff.
• This is a permanent, flexible shift-based role, including evenings and weekends.

Housekeeping Assistant

Chetham’s School of Music is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to join the internationally renowned specialist music school located in the city center of Manchester. The job

  • We are looking for a Housekeeping Assistant to join our housekeeping team to deliver an efficient and high-quality service to the school.
  • You will work as part of the Housekeeping Team in ensuring that an efficient and high-quality Housekeeping Service is provided to all areas of the school.
  • The role is nominally 20 hours per week Monday – Friday. Core hours: 7.00am to 11.00pm.
