Rossall School is among the most successful and prestigious independent boarding and day schools in the North West with flourishing pupil numbers.

With an enticing and highly aspirational culture, Rossall School is offering opportunities for exceptional educators to come and work with supremely talented, inspiring and compassionate professionals to teach our hard working, ambitious and delightful pupils.

Following an internal promotion, Rossall School is seeking a dynamic and experienced practitioner to lead the Design Technology Department from September 2023. The successful applicant will be an outstanding leader with a strong commitment to ensuring that all pupils within the department achieve excellent examination results (from a value-added perspective) and develop a lifelong interest in and love of this subject.

The position of Head of DT at Rossall School offers an exciting opportunity to lead a team of experienced and dedicated colleagues in a collaborative and mutually supportive environment. The DT department is well resourced and there is a dynamic and collegiate approach to the sharing of best practice.

Design and Technology is a hugely popular subject at the school. This is a reflection of the exciting and diverse curriculum but also the outstanding facilities available to pupils.

The Design and Technology department is a well-equipped facility with an extensive mixed material workshop, alongside spacious separate design studios. We combine a strong belief in the ability to communicate ideas in the form of sketching and rendering, alongside the use of professional level CAD software and CAM provisions. With pupils having access to 3D printing, alongside the use of large format laser cutters and CNC routers.

Our students study across a wide range of disciplines, including Product Design, Graphic Design and Architecture. With the department having well established relationships with a number of universities, as well as links into industry. In addition to this the department runs an annual trip to the Vitra Design Museum in Germany, and the Cité de l'Automobile in France.

We aim to develop forward thinking, innovative and creative design students, who are able to combine a comprehensive design knowledge, with the skills required to communicate their ideas effectively.

As a School we also offer Food Studies on the timetable for pupils throughout the Senior School and prospective applicants with experience in this area may have the opportunity to teach in this department also.
