The school is looking to appoint a chemistry technician to work in our science department. The department provides a rich and varied co-curricular programme, from visits to university laboratories to success in national competitions such as the UK Chemistry Olympiad and Cambridge Chemistry Race. The chemistry department is part of the science faculty together with biology and physics, an arrangement that encourages and develops a collaborative approach to science learning, teaching and co-curricular opportunities.

The chemistry technician will be responsible for coordinating and organising the practical resources, including equipment and chemicals to support the teachers in the chemistry department. They will also be responsible for ordering equipment and supplies.

This is a permanent, full-time, term time only position for 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.30pm). You will be expected to work 35 weeks (St Swithun’s term time, including staff training days) plus 6 days in the holidays per year.
