Sompting Abbotts School is a small independent preparatory day school in West Sussex, with a long-standing academic reputation. The school is family-run and all our children sit Common Entrance and Common Academic Scholarship exams in Year 8.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, well-qualified and dedicated Geography Teacher to join our team from September 2023. The successful applicant would also be expected to show commitment to the school’s pastoral and wider-curricular programme. The ability to offer teaching of Junior Boys' Games would be beneficial.
The Geography department at the school aims to encourage in all pupils a curiosity about the world around them, and the knowledge and skills to describe and understand it. You will deliver rigorous and engaging Geography lessons to students across the school, creating a classroom environment that stimulates learning and encourages students to think independently, take risks, empathise with others, and perform to the best of their abilities.
This is a part-time position. The successful applicant would be teaching Geography to Years 3-8. We welcome all applicants whose experience and/or ability to teach Geography at CE and CASE level is essential (information about these examinations is found on iseb.co.uk). You will either be currently teaching in an independent school environment or able to teach Geography to GCSE level.
This position would be 0.54 of a full timetable with just Geography taught, and 0.6 of a full timetable with the addition of Games being offered.
