Caretaker/Site Maintenance required at an idyllic Cotswold Prep school. Accommodation in the form of a house is provided. the post holder with responsible for security, maintenance and Health and Safety of buildings and grounds.
The post holder will work closely with the Head of Operations and Grounds, Maintenance and Domestic Teams
Hours – This role is full time, year round
Salary & Remuneration – Competitive salary dependent on experience and service accommodation in the form of a house on site is included.

Purpose of the Position
To have responsibility for the security and overall good order of the school site along with ensuring that relevant Health and Safety, equipment checks and routine maintenance are carried out in an appropriate and timely manner and to support the Operations Manager and Site and Domestic teams where necessary.
Responsibilities & Duties
The duties outlined in this job description may be modified by the Operations Manager or Head, with your agreement, to reflect or anticipate changes in the job.
Security:
To be a key holder, to check, lock and unlock the building as required
To liaise with alarm company and attend call outs as required
To ensure that all windows and doors are closed and that all school gates are closed when the building is not in use e.g. school holidays
To liaise with the Cleaning team regarding locking up during term time
To ensure that all items of significant value are security marked
Good order of buildings:
To ensure adequate maintenance and cleaning materials are ordered
To attend to maintenance, decorating and improvement tasks
To oversee contractor work for more substantial decorating and improvement work during the holidays
School Grounds:
To clear the outside grounds of any rubbish and ensure that the tidiness of the grounds is maintained
To liaise with ground maintenance contractors to ensure that contracts are fulfilled
Make any minor repairs to the outside school grounds including play equipment
Routine Equipment/Consumable Checks:
To ensure maintenance and cleaning equipment is working and is adequate and appropriate for needs
To check all lighting tubes and replace as required
To check stocks of consumables regularly e.g. black bags, toilet rolls and tissues
To order and replace air fresheners for toilets as required
To ensure central heating is working and alter timers/clocks as required
Check all internal clocks weekly and replace batteries as required
Minor Maintenance:
To attend to small maintenance tasks and minor repairs e.g. school furniture , fixtures and equipment
To ascertain the need for external repairers and liaise with contractors as required
To assemble self assembly furniture
Porterage
To routinely move and check off small deliveries
To move larger deliveries e.g. furniture as required
To ensure that waste is collected and moved to collection points
To set up rooms for events and meetings as required e.g. putting out and away chairs and refreshments
To support the catering staff when possible with tables and chairs for lunch
Energy Efficiency:
To help reduce energy costs by highlighting possible waste and minimise consumption were possible
To develop systems for reducing waste and for recycling materials where possible
Health and Safety:
To support the Business Manager in ensuring the school meets Health and Safety requirements by carrying out checks and maintaining records including
Smoke/ fire alarms and detectors
Signage
Water system safety
To attend training on matters regarding Health and Safety
