Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Reports to: Senior Deputy Head
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, 0830-1630 Monday to Friday, term time only.
The Headmaster and CEO of Eltham College Family of Schools seeks to appoint an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work at Eltham College.
The post holder will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of teachers.
The cover supervisor will ensure the good behaviour of the students and make sure the students engage in the learning activity that has been set by the teacher. The post holder will be required to respond to students’ general questions and provide feedback to the teacher on broad issues such as behaviour, but will not be expected to undertake any planning, preparation or assessment of students’ progress and/or development, or to answer any subject specific questions.
The majority of lessons covered will be in the Senior School, but the post holder may be required to cover Junior School lessons that are normally taught by a member of the Senior School.
The role may also include breaktime or lunchtime Duties, and the invigilation of exams and other assessments as required.
Eltham College is a highly successful independent day school in south-east London, educating boys and girls aged 7 to 18 across both Junior and Senior Schools. The College has grown considerably over recent years: there are now over 800 students in the Senior School and around 260 pupils in the Junior School and places are heavily oversubscribed. Since 2020, girls have been able to join Years 3 and 7, mirroring the Sixth Form which has been coeducational for over 45 years.
