We are currently seeking to fill the position of Electrician.

George Heriot’s School Edinburgh are looking for a fully qualified Electrician (valid grade card and 18th Edition certified) to work with our maintenance team on a fulltime basis. 37 hours, Monday-Friday.

The applicant should be able to demonstrate:

  • Good knowledge of electrical/mechanical installations, single and 3 phase power.
  • Ability to trace faults, problem solve and seek solutions to faults and failures.
  • Ability and experience of working independently or alongside our other trades.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical safe working practices, including isolation, plus an awareness of current statutory requirements, including a general understanding of H&S and the risk assessment process.
  • Experienced and competent in all aspects of electrical planned, preventative and day to day reactive maintenance issues, with extensive experience in fault finding on complex electrical installations.
  • Flexibility, being well organised, and manage their own workload.  Able to project a professional image and demonstrate a proactive attitude in work related issues.
  • Basic knowledge of IT to be able to use our Support Request System and search for parts and solutions on the internet.

You will be based in our Lauriston Place campus but be responsible for the day to day running of all electrical circuits for our 22 buildings across Edinburgh.  There will occasionally be a requirement to work in our Outward Bound lodge in Bridge of Orchy.

A full UK driving license would be advantageous.
