We are currently seeking to fill the position of Senior School Intern - Support for Learning focus.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and kind individual who actively enjoys the company of young people. The Learning Support Intern will work under the direction of the Head of Support for Learning supporting with teaching and learning and associated activities.
The job will be varied, and the type of support will be dependent on the individual requirements of the pupils you are working with. There will also be an element of departmental admin as part of the role, as well as opportunities to get involved in a range of areas of school life.
This role is particularly suited to someone who might be interested in a career in teaching and there will be opportunities to provide bespoke experience relating to interest areas of the individual.
The role is term time only and is for the 25/26 academic session, starting August 18, 2025 and ending on June 26, 2026.
This is a varied role, however the key focus is as follows:
- Working with the designated Learning Support Teacher to understand particular pupils’ learning differences and therefore the support required.
- Assisting in subject classrooms to ensure the effectiveness of inclusive strategies for pupils with additional support needs.
- Providing feedback to the designated Learning Support Teacher and planning appropriate support for specific pupils.
Examples of duties include:
- Assisting pupils with use of equipment in practical classes.
- Reading or scribing for pupils.
- Assisting pupils in maintaining good levels of focus throughout lessons.
- Helping pupils with organisation and study skills.
- Supporting social interactions amongst pupils.
- Supporting learning activities as directed by the subject teacher.
- Supporting the use of ICT in the curriculum and supporting pupils to use assistive technology to enhance their learning.
- Assisting with every day admin relating to the SfL department
Other opportunities might include:
- Working one-to-one or with small groups in the Support for Learning department and keeping records of pupil progress.
- Supporting pupils in specific areas of weakness such as literacy and numeracy.
- Assisting in supervision of pupils some lunchtimes, on school trips and during activities sessions.
- Carrying out specific tasks, as directed by the Head of Support for Learning, such as assisting with tests/ exams in the SfL department.
