Terrington Hall School

Terrington Hall Preparatory, a boarding and day school for pupils aged 3-13, stands within North Yorkshire’s Howardian Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty in sight of the cathedral city of York. Established in 1921 on the site of a Georgian rectory, the school continues to provide an education rooted in Christian traditions, promoting tolerance, integrity, manners and service whilst developing the potential of every child to the best that he or she can be.

Welcoming children of all abilities, the school enjoys a strong academic record. All its Year 8 leavers progress to the senior schools of their choice, with over one in four winning scholarships. One of a handful of truly independent prep schools in the area, Terrington prepares pupils for the school that best suits them. The school’s dedicated team of staff - many of whom are leaders in their fields – deliver a curriculum with not only academic excellence at its heart but also the provision of a life-enhancing broader education, one that develops potential wherever it lies, whether on the games field, in the music room, on the stage or in the children’s daily lives. Of particular note are the kayaking and mountaineering expeditions to the rivers and mountains of the Ardeche and the Alps in Years 7 and 8, the experiences of which are carried forward by the children for a lifetime. This is a flavour of our school. To find out more, do visit our website, www.terringtonhall.com. But to really experience what Terrington has to offer your child, and to see at first hand the glowing inner health of our stimulated, happy and outward-looking children, please do come and visit - you will be most warmly welcomed by headmaster Stephen Mulryne, and, of course, the pupils themselves.
