St George's School, Ascot, located only 30 minutes from Central London and eight miles from Heathrow Airport, is one of the leading girls' boarding and day schools in the UK. Deliberately small, every girl at St George's is known individually and is supported by a close network of teaching and pastoral staff. Boarding is a real highlight of the school, St George’s has made its facilities really homely and comfortable with family-style common rooms, kitchens and computer suites. The Houses are lively and welcoming and the staff create an environment that promotes a good work ethic as well as being caring, happy and fun. The House staff are always around to help with any issues as well as to arrange an array of weekend trips and sixty after school clubs. St George’s is known for its excellence in the creative and performing arts and facilities are excellent. The school has a 336 seater theatre as well as separate drama studio ensuring that there are many opportunities for performance. Art is spectacular with Art, Textiles, Photography and Art History taught at A Level and many students going onto university to study art-related subjects. The Chapel Choir is the pinnacle of the music department with the girls being given the opportunity to perform in Westminster Abbey and St Paul’s as well as go on music tours both internationally and in the UK. There is tuition for all instruments and a variety of musical groups on offer. Lacrosse, netball, tennis, swimming, lacrosse, athletics, rounders, squash and polo are all played competitively at the school. In addition, pilates, Zumba, golf, badminton, fitness and polo as well as various dance classes including ballet, tap, modern, pointe and conditioning are on offer and facilities are superb – six netball courts, three lacrosse pitches also used for athletics and rounders, sports hall, two squash courts, fitness suite and dance studio. Girls at St George’s have many opportunities to mix both socially and intellectually with boys due to partnerships with Eton College, Winchester and Harrow. There is also a variety of extra-curricular activities on offer ranging from sport and the performing arts to D of E and MUN.
