A very exciting and rewarding opportunity for an inspiring Reception teacher to join a thriving Pre-Prep. You will be part of the Leadership team, ensuring that the Vinehall vision and values are shared and implemented effectively.
The Deputy Head of Pre-Prep will support the Head of Pre-Prep to ensure the vision and values of the department are clearly articulated, shared, understood and acted upon effectively by all Pre-Prep staff.
The role is to provide strategic vision and leadership in consultation with the Head of Pre-Prep, so that the high standards of pastoral care and education is maintained.
The Deputy Head will take a strong lead in the Teaching, Learning and Assessment within the Pre-Prep.
It is expected that the Deputy Head teaches a class. The current vacancy is for Reception.
Teaching and Curriculum
• Oversee and ensure all practice and provision meet the requirements of the Pre-Prep Curriculum and the high expectations of Vinehall.
• Ensure the curriculum Schemes of Work are innovative and updated regularly. That they are of a high quality and standard, offering rich and stimulating experiences appropriate to the age and stage of development for all children.
• Make certain that the EYFS framework is being implemented accurately and the number of observations and paperwork is manageable and conducive to maximising teacher interaction with children.
• Liaise with the Academic Administrator and Deputy Head in coordinating specialist teachers/timing/facilities for the Pre-Prep timetable.
• Promote high expectations for attainment.
• Take a lead in coordinating English and Maths in the Pre-Prep.
• Monitor and evaluate pupil progress targets to make a measurable contribution to the whole-school targets.
• Support and lead the development of good practice on inclusion.
• Model and promote high expectations of pastoral care and pupil wellbeing.
• Lead and maintain a culture of self-evaluation and reflective practice throughout the Pre-Prep.
• Encourage high teaching standards and act as a role model to colleagues, in and out of the classroom.
• Work closely with the Network Manager and other staff to ensure that technology plays a vital role in the delivery of the curriculum.
• Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning through termly curriculum observations, including literacy/maths walks and book scrutiny.
