Lord Wandsworth College is a coeducational, boarding and day school for children aged 11 to 18 on the North Hampshire/Surrey border. Set on a beautiful 1200 acre campus but within 10 minutes of the M3 and just an hour from London. Full, weekly, flexi boarding options are all on offer and day pupils are equally welcome.

Only by coming to the school and seeing it at first hand can you appreciate the strong sense of community that makes LWC so special. The large, rural campus just one hour from London provides a safe environment where children can flourish. It is a stimulating and exciting place to be. The pupils are fully engaged in a rigorous academic programme alongside a wealth of co-curricular and enrichment activities. We cater for a range of academic abilities from the very brightest to those who need a little more help with their studies. All students, however, are expected to reach a ‘benchmark’ in our entrance tests prior to being offered places. We are proud of our academic achievements and our pupils regularly achieve academic results beyond expectations; our value added score at 6th Form level is particularly impressive. Whilst academics are of major importance, the hallmark of LWC is our friendly, family atmosphere where tolerance and concern for others is a high priority. Developing each child’s character is central to our ethos and runs through all that we do; enhancing strengths and working on weaknesses so that they leave us understanding who they are and how they can make a difference to, and contribute positively, to the world beyond school. We have a strong boarding community but day pupils are equally welcome and fully integrated into the House system. We have a substantial number of full boarders from the UK and overseas but weekly or flexi boarding are very popular options for families with busy lifestyles. Our reputation for sport is unrivalled, particularly in team games: hockey, rugby, cricket and netball. We also offer many other sports and we have teams competing in squash, canoeing, tennis, rounders and swimming. The Arts are equally important to us and the Performing Arts Department is one of the busiest places in school, with numerous large and small scale productions and concerts taking place each year. Students can take academic drama and music but are also able to participate for pleasure and many, many do. We have an orchestra, rock groups, concert band, string and wind groups, choirs and soloists all of whom are encouraged to perform regularly. All year groups have the chance to audition for drama productions and those who are not so keen to tread the boards can get involved with the technical side of theatre via lighting, sound or set design. Dance of all styles is also enjoyed by both boys and girls in our impressive dance studio. The Art Department is hugely successful with outstanding GCSE and A Level results each year. Evidence of the high quality art and ceramics can be seen all around the campus. We have a very active Community Volunteer programme, CCF (with both Army and RAF sections) and Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. We regularly have the most students being awarded their Gold DofE of any school in our region. Some of the other activities on offer are horse-riding, scuba diving, martial arts, school newspaper, debating, climbing, charity work and cooking. Our 6th Form is 150 strong and we would expect up to 10 students annually to apply to Oxford or Cambridge universities. Our most academic students are extended beyond their A Levels via our Oxbridge Group enrichment programme and by taking the EPQ (extended project qualification). Our students move on to all UK universities and occasionally to the US or Europe. They study a wide range of subjects from medicine and law to animation and agriculture. The range of subjects studied at university and the careers of our alumni reflect the diverse nature of our student body. We offer scholarships for excellence in academics, music, art, drama and sport. We also stay true to our Founder’s original bequest by offering Foundation places for children who have lost the support of one or both parents and are in need of the stability of a boarding school.
