Are you a passionate and accomplished debater looking to inspire the next generation? The King’s School, Canterbury, is seeking a Graduate Debater in Residence to run (in tandem with the Debating Coordinator) our thriving Debating and Oracy Society.

What You’ll Do:

  • Coach students in British Parliamentary debating and public speaking
  • Plan and deliver debate training, competitions, and strategy
  • Support students of all levels, from beginners to top competitors
  • Lead interhouse debates, judge rounds, and curate motions
  • Accompany teams to national competitions (10-15 trips per year)

What We’re Looking For:

  • Extensive experience in high-level competitive debating (e.g., Team England)
  • Experience of public speaking, BP and ESU Mace formats
  • Recent experience of the university debating circuit and the trends within judging and motion setting
  • Strong coaching, judging, and public speaking skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities
  • Enthusiasm for working with students of all backgrounds
