We are seeking an outstanding Classics Teacher to join a thriving, supportive and successful Classics department to teach Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level.

Part –Time – 3 days a week Required for September 2025

Tormead School is an academically selective independent school for 800 girls aged 4–18, located in central Guildford.

We are seeking an outstanding Classics Teacher to join a thriving, supportive and successful Classics department to teach Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proven ability to deliver high-quality and imaginative lessons and be capable of inspiring students through their passion for the subject. KS3 students follow the de Romanis textbook. We currently offer Latin, Greek and Classical Civilisation at GCSE and A Level and therefore the ability to teach Greek would also be welcome.

Outside the classroom, we offer a popular trip abroad to Greece or Italy, very two years and regular visits to London for shows and visits to museums. We also have a thriving Upper School Classics Society.

Candidates will have a firm grasp of curricular developments, inspire high standards in the classroom and the ability to establish excellent working relationships. We value colleagues who are imaginative, flexible and have a warm approach, with the ability to support the learning of individual students and contribute to the pastoral system.

This post would suit either an experienced teacher of Classics or a new entrant to the profession who would be trained and supported to develop their teaching practice.
