Kimbolton School is seeking a sessional Water Sports Instructor to join the Outdoor Pursuits team. The main responsibilities of this role will be to support the Head of Outdoor Pursuits in the delivery of Water Sports.
Kimbolton School is seeking a sessional Water Sports Instructor to join the Outdoor Pursuits team. The main responsibilities of this role will be to support the Head of Outdoor Pursuits in the delivery of Water Sports, initially for 4 hours on a Tuesday afternoon, with some additional weekend hours as required.
Our Outdoor Pursuits Department offers pupils opportunities to sail and canoe either during Games lessons or after school. Kimbolton School is also an RYA (Royal Yachting Association) Recognised Training Centre, and is also affiliated to British Canoeing.
Our Outdoor Pursuits Department is very successful, with our Senior canoe team competing regularly in marathon races, notably the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race (DW), which saw Kimbolton’s first ever junior doubles winners in April 2026. Kimbolton School also took part in Waterside Series 2026, winning junior mixed crew, junior men’s and 1st School Team.
The successful candidate will be able to work on their own initiative and without supervision, will be able to establish and maintain working relationships, and will hold valid first aid qualifications, as well as a Paddle UK/British Canoeing Level 1 coach/paddleboard instructor or RYA Dinghy Instructor qualifications.
The successful candidate will also lead or assist with purposeful and safe training sessions afloat. They will be fully involved in helping promote and encourage pupils to take up and enjoy water sports, and understand and actively support the ethos of inclusion and participation among the pupil.
