Town Close School
Co-educational IAPS - for boys and girls aged 3-13
Town Close School is a leading independent and co-educational day school for children aged 3 – 13 based in the heart of the city of Norwich. Boys and girls can start at the School from three years old and most remain with us until they are 13 (Year 8).
Located on a beautiful site in Norwich, the School is based around two large town houses (one early Georgian and the other mid-Victorian), their extensive gardens and ten acres of conservation woodland. Modern extensions and facilities stand alongside the historic buildings giving the School an exceptional blend of old and and new, and unparalleled access to a wide range of opportunities and experiences.
We aim to produce well-motivated, balanced, confident children, who are caring and sociable and who know the value of hard work. Town Close School has an outstanding academic reputation. Our classes are small and the children are prepared for all major senior schools, whilst those showing special promise sit scholarships.
Children progress through a broad and varied programme of activities with a strong emphasis on the development of personal and social skills and on establishing positive attitudes to learning and to school life. A wide range of extra-curricular activities, trips and expeditions form a valuable part of what we offer, and provide the balance essential for a full and rounded education. A range of activities also take place during the lunch hour, after school, and occasionally at weekends.
The School also has an excellent sporting reputation. Facilities include a high specification purpose-built sports hall, an indoor heated swimming pool, sports fields and Astroturf.
Physical Education plays an important part in the development of all our children (whether in the Nursery or in Year 8), helping to nurture a positive, competitive attitude, individual skills and teamwork. Children enjoy all the major sports such as rugby, netball, hockey, cricket, athletics and rounders, and coaching is offered in many other minor sports, with many coaches having competed at county or national level.
Music, Art and Drama form a central part of the Schools activities with all children encouraged to perform. The School has an orchestra, choirs and a wide range of ensembles, with concerts taking place regularly in our state-of-the-art performance hall.
Prospective parents are always welcome to visit the School or attend one of our open days.
