We are currently seeking to fill the position of Head of Music and Performing Arts at City Junior School.
Job type: 4 days a week (0.8 FTE) or full time for candidates with an additional teaching specialism
Start date: September 2026 or January 2027
Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with experience
This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational teacher to lead the outstanding Music and Performing Arts provision at City Junior School.
Working closely with the Director of Music (City Schools), the successful candidate will ensure that music and drama continue to be a central and highly valued part of school life.
The successful candidate will teach music to all Key Stage 2 pupils and will also lead whole-class drama across Key Stage 2, teaching some drama lessons. For candidates seeking a full-time role, applications from those with an additional teaching specialism are welcomed.
The postholder will have a strong record of delivering Music and Performing Arts to a very high standard in a junior setting. We have a busy and vibrant calendar that includes termly concerts and showcases, a Year 4 spring show and an end of Year 6 production for our leavers.
Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to manage Visiting Music Teachers and collaborate effectively with colleagues at the Junior School. Supported by the Director of Music City Schools, the post holder will work to uphold the historic relationship with the choir of HM Chapel Royal St James Palace and will also engage actively with partnership initiatives that take place within the City family of schools and with local institutional partners.
