Chief Debating Coach

We are seeking an experienced, confident and enthusiastic Chief Debating Coach to lead the development of debating at Dulwich College. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with substantial competitive debating experience who is passionate about developing young people and inspiring pupils to engage confidently with current affairs, politics and contemporary issues.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality coaching to pupils in Years 7–13, supporting debaters of a range of ages, abilities and experience. They will help pupils develop persuasive arguments, respond effectively to opposing views, think on their feet and communicate with clarity and confidence, while preparing teams for internal and external competitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging debating coaching for pupils across Years 7–13, adapting sessions to different ages, abilities and levels of experience
  • Coach and support debating teams at Saturday competitions and other external events, providing feedback and guidance before, during and after competitions
  • Support the organisation and delivery of internal and external debating competitions, including House Debating and Dulwich Schools
  • Work closely with the Head of Debating to support the development and progress of pupils and the wider debating programme
  • Promote an ambitious, inclusive and positive debating culture across the College
  • Support the administration of the Debating Society, including communication with pupils and attendance records
