Cleaning Manager required to manage daily cleaning operations across a large and diverse College estate, delivering a consistently high-quality service. Responsible for supervising teams, coordinating schedules and contractors, and ensuring strong compliance, operational efficiency, and high standards throughout the year.
CLEANING MANAGER
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Cleaning Managerto lead and develop our in-house cleaning operation across a large and diverse College campus.
Our estate includes a mix of modern facilities and historic buildings, including the Grade II listed Barry Buildings. The successful candidate will ensure a consistently high-quality cleaning service is delivered year-round, tailored to the individual needs of each building while supporting the College’s sustainability goals through increased use of eco-friendly products and materials.
The Role
You will manage a multi-functional team including a Day Janitor, Sports Centre Cleaners, Classroom Cleaners, Supervisors, and a Night Hygiene Team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone experienced in managing cleaning services across a large, complex site.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily cleaning operations and maintain high service standards
- Lead, train, recruit, and develop cleaning staff and supervisors
- Conduct regular inspections and team briefings
- Monitor budgets, check invoices, and ensure cost-effective service delivery
- Order cleaning materials in line with sustainability objectives
- Liaise with Facilities, Sports, and Events departments to support operational needs
About You
- Proven experience managing cleaning operations on a large and complex site (essential)
- Strong knowledge of health & safety and compliance requirements
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills
- Financially aware with experience managing budgets and contracts
- Proactive, reliable, and committed to continuous improvement
