Hurlingham School
Hurlingham is an independent co-educational preparatory school founded in 1947. It is situated on Putney Bridge Road near to Wandsworth Park. Children join the Reception year in the September before their fifth birthday. The school's ethos is to provide a happy, secure atmosphere in which every individual child can build on his or her strengths and talents to be the best that they can be.
We nurture self-confidence, self-discipline, self-motivation, self-esteem and a thirst and enjoyment for learning within an academic environment. We foster an intimate and welcoming community centred on family values, with a strong focus on good manners and respect for one another. Our ultimate goal is to provide a firm foundation for all individuals, to prepare them for their next school and to ensure they gain entry to the senior institution that is "right" for them. Our dynamic Learning Support and Gifted & Talented Departments provide extra consolidation and extension for pupils who need it. Small classes (never more than 20, and ideally no more than 18 at FS/KS1 and no more than 15 at KS2) enable the school to give time and attention to individual needs. The new school building, opened in 2004, provides light and spacious classrooms, a large assembly hall/gymnasium, a ballet and drama studio, group and individual music rooms, an art room, a science laboratory, a computer suite, a nature garden and a dedicated Early Years unit for our Reception classes.
