We are currently seeking to fill the position of Music Partnerships Coordinator.

Required for: September 2026

Location: Dean’s Yard, Westminster

Contract: Part-time, Permanent Position (term time only)

Hours of work: The post holder is employed for eight hours per week, term time only. The nature of the work will require the post holder to work up to four of the eight hours per week on Thursday afternoons. The remaining hours will be within the school day and can be flexible to suit the candidate.

Salary: The salary for this role is £6,888.63 per annum (actual).

We are seeking an inspirational musician and communicator to allow our school community to thrive within meaningful and sustained partnerships. The role will promote relationships within the music education sector, in our local area and further afield, for the benefit of all.

The Music Partnerships Coordinator will work with the Director of Music to refine and further develop our strategy for music partnerships. This role was created to reflect the value and importance that the School places on partnerships, establishing new music partnerships and strengthening existing ones at both local and national levels for the benefit of all participants.

Westminster pupils presently take part in a civic engagement programme on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, part of which includes making music within a variety of local organisations and schools.

The Music Department has developed links with both the Pimlico Musical Foundation - a local charity that runs singing programmes and choirs within local primary schools - and a number of state schools within the City of Westminster. In recent years, staff and pupils from across these schools have combined for specific performance projects.

The Music Teachers’ Association (MTA) formed a partnership with HMC, and part of the remit for this was to encourage all schools to continue to forge better links with other institutions and organisations within their local areas, including the lead partner of their respective music hubs.

The City of Westminster is serviced by the Tri-borough Music Hub (TBMH), which delivers and supports music education across the three London boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, and Westminster. The post holder will help to maintain our link with TBMH.

Through stronger partnership, we seek to contribute to a stronger support network for music educators in the area which, in turn, will allow for more collaborative opportunities for pupils at both Westminster and in other schools.

The Music Partnerships Coordinator will work closely alongside the Director of Music, to advocate for music education in schools. They will develop sustained and meaningful partnerships for the benefit of both young people and music education professionals.

Responsibilities would be, but not limited to the following:

  • Develop opportunities for Westminster pu­pils to work / perform side-by-side with other young people.
  • Develop a series of workshops in which Westminster pupils can work or perform with / coach pupils in local primary schools.
  • Develop a student mentor scheme including training for student mentors.
  • Develop a series of primary school assemblies involving secondary school pupils.
  • Assist in design and delivery of large-scale collaborative performances involving large numbers of pupils across different schools.
  • Liaise with institutions and organisations within the local area including the Tri-borough Music Hub and its partner organisations.
  • Assist with the organisation of a series of taster events, for various different age groups, to encourage greater exposure to different instruments, styles, and genres.
  • Strengthen links with professional musicians and other contacts within the music industry to expose pupils from both Westminster and other local institutions to professional role models.
  • Assist with the administration and evaluation of partnership projects.
  • Coordinate the logistics for the Partner Schools at our collaborative concert at an external venue (and the preceding rehearsals here at Westminster) in March each year
