This is an exciting opportunity to join our Support for Learning Department at Fettes College in September 2026. We are looking for a motivated and inspiring colleague to provide academic support to students and teachers in all years across our Senior School.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher who is committed to empowering students with additional learning needs. The successful candidate will have a genuine enthusiasm for helping every student access the curriculum, reach their full potential, and build lasting confidence and independence in their learning journey.

In this rewarding role, you will provide tailored one-to-one support, deliver engaging small group interventions, and work collaboratively with classroom teachers to enhance learning and teaching for SFL learners across the Senior School. You will use a variety of strategies and technologies to enhance learning outcomes, carefully monitor student progress, and adapt your approach to ensure every child succeeds.

The Ideal Candidate

Successful applicants for a teaching post at Fettes would be expected to have the following characteristics:

• A strong academic background and a relevant qualification in Education, Special Educational Needs, or a related field

• Ambition, diligence, and a commitment to continually developing their professional skills

• Empathy, patience, and the ability to motivate students, helping them build confidence, resilience, and independent learning skills

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and accessibly

• Experience using technology effectively to enhance teaching, learning and student engagement

• An understanding of the dedication required in a boarding school environment

• Enthusiasm for engaging fully in the wider life of the school community
