We are currently seeking to fill the position of IT Technician.

At George Heriot’s School, our IT Team is an important part of the school community, supporting both staff and pupils. We utilize modern technologies including Cisco/Meraki networks, VMware virtualization, Windows Servers, and Windows 11 clients. Our team manages Microsoft Windows Active Directory, Entra ID, Intune, and Microsoft Office 365 across the school.

As an IT Technician, you will report to the Infrastructure and Cloud Services Manager. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity. You will manage your workload through our helpdesk ticketing system and support teaching and school staff with various software packages, including Microsoft Office 365. Additionally, you will handle the logistics of IT hardware, which may involve transporting and lifting equipment across the school campus.

This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals with entry-level IT experience to develop their careers and gain exposure to a wide range of industry-standard technologies. We offer ongoing certification and training to support your professional growth.

  • A degree in a relevant discipline or HND/HNC level at minimum.
  • Proven experience in an IT helpdesk or technical support role.
  • Preferred qualifications such as CompTIA A+ or other relevant certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, email clients, and remote support tools.
  • Excellent general IT technical skills and a basic understanding of networking principles and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in using helpdesk ticketing systems like Zendesk, ServiceNow, or Freshdesk.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Forward-thinking with the ability to use your initiative.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to high levels of customer satisfaction through effective communication and prompt issue resolution.
  • Willingness to undertake training and development in line with business requirements and growth.
