ST ALOYSIUS’ COLLEGE: THE SCHOOL

St Aloysius’ College is unique. As Scotland’s only Jesuit school, we occupy a unique position at the very heart of the city of Glasgow. Our campus, located adjacent to the Glasgow School of Art and close to the Royal Conservatoire, places the College firmly within the cultural and intellectual life of the city. The College’s iconic green blazer is a familiar and enduring presence, synonymous with both the school and the city itself.

We are proud to be one of the most socially diverse independent schools in Glasgow, educating young people from ages 3 to 18 across Junior and Senior Schools. The College has a proud tradition of academic excellence, with results that consistently place us among the highest performing schools in Scotland. Demand for places remains strong, particularly at key entry points.

St Aloysius’ College is proudly Jesuit and Catholic, and equally proud of the diversity of its community. We warmly welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds who share our commitment to educational excellence, the safeguarding of our pupils, and the formation of young people in service of others.

Based in the heart of Glasgow’s City Centre with easy access to transport links, the College offers an inclusive culture based on integrity, respect and personal excellence in making a difference in the lives of its pupils, parents and staff alike.

The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for a caring and dedicated individual to provide a proactive Nursing support service to our students. This is a rarely available Term Time role for a qualified Nurse, working only during the term times and off on the school holiday dates.  There are no shifts across 24 hours - this is a Mon – Friday daytime role.

St Aloysius’ College also encourages staff to take advantage of continuous life-long professional learning opportunities to update their skills and improve their knowledge, and offer our Nurse 3 clinical CPD sessions across the year.

How you will make an impact

As a key member of our team, you will manage the Medical Centre and advise on medical issues relating to the health & welfare of our pupils, with particular emphasis on medical conditions, safeguarding, health promotion, medications administration and provision of first aid. The School Nurse will provide competent, approachable, professional and accessible medical and nurse-based first aid and medical support for all pupils and staff.

What you need to succeed

You will be a registered Nurse (RN) with current validation and NMC PIN and updated CPD, preferably with experience and knowledge of child health, preferably in a school setting.  You will have confidence in own your abilities, and be able to apply your own clinical judgement.

APPLICATION & SELECTION PROCESS

Applications should be received not later than 9am on 16 November 2026. Applications received after this date will not be considered. CVs on their own are not accepted and all applications must be submitted via our recruitment portal.

Interviews will take place as soon as possible following the closing date.

You should nominate two referees to support your application (please note referees will be asked to assess you against the person specification attached rather than being generic in nature).
