The Grammar School at Leeds
The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) Senior School is part of a vibrant school community that teaches children from the age of 3 through to Sixth Form. The school occupies purpose built accommodation on a greenfield site in north Leeds which is shared with GSAL’s Junior School.
There are approximately 1500 pupils in Senior School, who learn under the Diamond Model in single gender classes up to the age of 16, with excellent academic outcomes. The Independent Schools Inspectorate 2011 reports that GCSE and A level results have consistently exceeded the national average for maintained schools including those that are selective. Most A level candidates meet the entry requirements at their first choice university with around 11% achieving Oxbridge places. The inspectors state that the Senior School ‘provides an excellent curriculum that is well planned, wide-ranging and enriching, together with an outstanding variety of extra-curricular activities.’ Admission to Senior School is subject to satisfactory performance in our entrance examination, a short interview and a report from the child’s current school. Subject to funds available a number of means-tested bursaries are available for entry at Year 7. Find out more at www.gsal.org.uk
