Director of Futures
- Organisation: Downe House School
- Location: Berkshire
- Tenure: Full-time
- Closing Date: Thursday 11 June 2026
Downe House has an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic and strategic candidate to become our Director of Futures on a full time, permanent basis.
Downe House is a leading UK independent day and boarding school for girls aged 11 – 18. Downe has long enjoyed a reputation for delivering a world-class education, focused on outstanding academic and extracurricular provision, and pastoral excellence.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic and strategic senior colleague to become our Director of Futures and lead a programme that enables pupils to thrive in an evolving global landscape. This is a key role preparing pupils to make decisions about their future pathways and explore opportunities with confidence, purpose and curiosity.
The Director of Futures will lead a small team to drive their vision and strategy for higher education guidance, careers’ education and the development of future-ready skills. Working collaboratively across all departments, they will identify innovative and creative ways to inspire and engage pupils to discover how they will have impact, success and fulfilment when they leave school.
This is a full-time, permanent appointment on a teaching contract with some teaching and tutorial responsibilities.
Our attractive staff benefits include:
- 21% employer contribution to pension, or 16% contribution plus 5% pay increase
- Life Insurance and Critical Illness cover
- Regular CPD opportunities
- Provision of delicious free meals and on-site parking
- Modern gym and swimming pool facilities
- A vibrant and supportive staff community
- A beautiful working environment in a semi-rural location
If you would like to make any enquiries or visit the School before you wish to make an application, please do contact us at recruitment@downehouse.net
Closing date: Midnight on Thursday 11th June.
Teams screening calls may be arranged with candidates as applications are received.
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK – we are unable to offer sponsorship for this position. Own transport is essential as the school is in a rural location with no public transport links.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and any offer of employment is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Check (DBS), satisfactory references, and social media checks.
At Downe House we promote equality of opportunity for all pupils and staff, both current and prospective, and we actively support an environment and culture that values diversity and inclusion.
