Downe House has an exceptional opportunity for a Teacher of Drama with Musical Theatre capability to join our vibrant Performing Arts department from September 2026 on a part time basis (0.6 FTE).

We are a leading independent boarding school for girls aged 11–18, based in the village of Cold Ash near Thatcham. Our aim is to provide pupils with a wealth of academic, pastoral and co-curricular opportunities to allow them to grow into confident young women prepared to take on the world. The Performing Arts play an important part of school life at Downe House. The department is thriving and well-resourced, and our pupils consistently achieve outstanding academic results. We are also fortunate to be able to offer a broad programme of co-curricular activities for pupils, including directing approximately seven school productions each year, clubs, workshops and theatre trips.

We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified teachers who are keen to develop their practice within a leading independent school. The successful candidate will have previous experience of teaching Drama up to GCSE and A Level standard and will be enthusiastic about contributing to the co-curricular programme for drama. The role will also include tutoring a small number of pupils.
