We are seeking an inspiring and dedicated Class Teacher to join our Middles department, taking responsibility for the majority of teaching for the class, working alongside subject specialist colleagues to deliver a broad and engaging curriculum.

Walhampton School is seeking to appoint an inspiring and dedicated Class Teacher to join our Middles department (Year 5 and 6) from September 2026.

As a Class Teacher in our Middles department, you will take responsibility for the majority of teaching for your class, working alongside subject specialist colleagues to deliver a broad and engaging curriculum.
We are looking for a teacher who will create a nurturing, happy and creative atmosphere where every child is known, valued and inspired to achieve their best. It is desirable that the successful candidate will also teach either Maths or English to Year 6 or Year 7.
What You Will Do:
- Plan and deliver high quality lessons that inspire a love of learning and challenge all learners.
- Foster a nurturing, happy, industrious and creative classroom environment.
- Monitor, assess and track pupil progress using the school’s systems and ensure accurate record keeping and reporting.
- Write reports in line with the annual reporting cycle and attend parents’ evenings as required.
- Communicate effectively with parents and contribute positively to the wider school community.
- Work collaboratively within the teaching team to maintain a respectful and co operative working environment.
- Contribute fully to the co-curricular life of the school, including match days, concerts, productions and a limited number of Saturday events.
- Undertake duties such as break and lunch supervision and provide lesson cover where required.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children in line with school policies and statutory guidance.

You will be confident, enthusiastic and resilient, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to command the respect of pupils, parents and colleagues.
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Experience of teaching in a primary or prep school setting.
- The ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons that include and challenge all learners.
- Strong organisational skills with effective time management.
- Excellent communication skills with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Willingness to contribute fully to the extra curricular life of the school.
Desirable:
- Experience of teaching Maths or English to Year 6 or Year 7.
- Experience of teaching within a Year 5 or Year 6 setting.
- Confidence in the use of IT, including remote delivery of the curriculum if required.
- Experience of contributing to sports, music, drama or other co curricular activities.
