Headington Rye Oxford

A vibrant day and boarding school with an international outlook, set in 23 acres of playing fields and gardens just a mile from the dreaming spires of Oxford. Great results are just one part of a great education at Headington.

Headington's academic results speak for themselves - year on year, girls' performance at GCSE and A level place the school amongst the top 50 in UK league tables - but our real strength lies in our commitment to meeting the needs of each individual pupil. No two girls are the same. That simple wisdom is at the root of the Headington approach to girls' education, and forms the basis of everything we do. Our clear sense of purpose is combined with the belief that learning should be stimulating and, above all, fun. From our flexible boarding options including half-weekly boarding to our broad range of extra-curricular activities, Headington is a place where each pupil is encouraged to discover and explore her own strengths and interests. Our goal is to enable each pupil to discover her full potential, whatever her background. The education that we offer is built around the twin values of breadth and balance. All of our teachers are subject specialists, with the expertise and enthusiasm to stretch and challenge each girl, encouraging her to work to the best of her ability. Headington sixth formers choose between A levels and the International Baccalaureate, and all girls benefit from a wealth of opportunities and experiences both within and beyond the core curriculum, designed to broaden their outlook and enable them to make a positive contribution to the wider community. Set in an enclosed campus just one mile from the centre of Oxford, Headington boasts a superb range of top quality facilities including a state of the art Music School, a multi-million pound Dance and Fitness Centre including a fully furnished gym, training rooms and a large dance studio equipped with a Harlequin dance floor, Art School, professional 240 seated Theatre and floodlit AstroTurf pitch. Our five welcoming boarding houses are each designed to offer the right mix of support and independence to girls at each stage in their education from age 11 to 18, with the youngest girls based in homely Davenport, and Sixth Form boarders enjoying greater freedom and independence in the purpose-built Celia Marsh and MacGregor boarding houses and adjoining Sixth Form Centre.
