The Role

The school is seeking to appoint a full-time IT/AV Technician as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a successful and friendly department assisting and supporting staff and pupils in their work. An ability to work well with staff and pupils is essential, together with the ability to work efficiently and with minimal supervision, independently prioritising tasks as required, whilst maintaining a flexible approach to daily duties. This role is essential in providing technical support and troubleshooting for staff and pupils and will be working in conjunction with the other IT Technician and assisted by other members of the IT department.

The main duties of the post will include, but not be restricted to, the following:

  • Looking after the School’s AV equipment and to set this up and support as required for School events, including occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Maintaining an optimally working user computing environment.
  • Monitoring and processing the IT helpdesk system.
  • Deploying and maintaining software to school PCs.
  • Ensuring key hardware devices are available to end-users, e.g. PCs, Monitors, Printers and AV equipment.
  • Assisting with, or taking responsibility for any other projects as required by the Director of IT or other members of the IT department.
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role

Essential

  • Enthusiastic to work in a small but active team.
  • Will have a positive approach to the role, with excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to take on responsibility and ensure results are to the satisfaction of all key stakeholders.
  • Will be prepared to carry out some evening and weekend work, as may be required from time to time.
  • Wants to further develop their career in the I.T profession.

Desirable

  • Experience working with Microsoft products in a school or enterprise-level environment.
  • Able to support Apple devices
  • Web development experience
  • Programming skills.
  • Microsoft SharePoint experience.
  • Administering Office 365.
  • Experience or interest in audio visual equipment.

Remuneration

This is an all-year-round full-time contract with 38.75 working hours per week 08:15-17:00, Mon-Fri with one hour (unpaid) lunch. The salary is £29,768 per annum.

Non-teaching staff are automatically enrolled in the school’s contributory Group Pension Scheme. This is a defined contribution pension scheme into which the employee contributes 5% of gross salary and the employer contributes 10%.
