Radley College is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Apprentice Groundsperson to join our dedicated Grounds Team. This is an exciting opportunity to learn from experienced professionals while working within one of the country's leading independent schools, renowned for its extensive sports facilities and beautiful grounds.

Throughout this two-year apprenticeship, you will gain practical experience in maintaining and preparing a wide variety of sports surfaces, including cricket squares, sports pitches, training areas and ornamental landscapes. You will learn the skills needed to help ensure our grounds are presented to the highest standards and provide outstanding facilities for pupils, staff and visitors.

This hands-on role will see you working outdoors throughout the year, developing your knowledge of turf care, pitch preparation, machinery operation and grounds maintenance techniques. No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to be involved in the preparation of facilities for a busy programme of sporting and school events.

We are looking for someone who enjoys physical work, has a positive attitude and is keen to learn. You do not need previous grounds experience, but a genuine interest in sport, the outdoors or land-based work would be an advantage. The ideal candidate will be reliable, hardworking and take pride in producing high-quality work, while being able to work both independently and as part of a team.

In return, you will receive structured training, support from experienced colleagues and the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification while earning and learning. This apprenticeship offers an excellent foundation for a career in grounds management, sports turf maintenance or the wider horticultural sector.

For the right candidate, there may be the opportunity to secure a permanent full-time position at the end of the apprenticeship.
