Design & Technology Technician

We are seeking to appoint a Design and Technology Technician to join our busy DT department.
The Design & Technology Department has four very well-equipped workshops, a technician storeroom and the use of the Finlay Gallery for ICT lessons. All students in the first and second year study the subject, after this, it is an option in the third year. This is followed by GCSE and A level options where student numbers are very high. The department is staffed by three full-time teachers, a part time teacher and a part-time technician.
The D&T Technician is a key member of the department supporting the teaching staff as required to maximise the effectiveness of the teaching time with the students. They will be responsible for the preparation of teaching materials, stock control and the maintenance of tools and machines for the department. The department is extremely well equipped with a wide range of machinery including centre lathes, milling machines, vacuum formers and bandsaws. The Technician must be comfortable working with all tools and machinery in the department.
The successful candidate should have related experience ideally with an engineering or related background, be able to demonstrate initiative and be confident working with both staff and pupils in an extremely well-resourced and successful department. You must be a good communicator with excellent organisational and time management skills and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. A practical awareness of Health and Safety is essential.
Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm, 36 weeks per year (term time plus one agreed week).
