Teacher of Economics - Part Time
- Organisation: Kingston Grammar School
- Location: Surrey
- Tenure: Part-time
- Closing Date: Friday 20 March 2026
Due to the expansion of the department and the opening of our new Sixth Form Centre, we seek to appoint a well-qualified Economics graduate, holding a PGCE or equivalent, to teach Economics (and some Business Studies).
The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, ambitious, organised yet flexible - in short, we seek flair and drive.
The Department of Economics and Business Studies is large and robust with high expectations and a willingness to innovate to ensure students benefit from the best possible learning experience. Public examination results have been impressive and are well above the UK national averages. Economics and Business are only offered to Sixth Form students. Economics and Business Studies are established and popular subjects at KGS. The department offers the following courses:
A Level Economics – Pearson/Edexcel
A Level Business – Cambridge OCR
Young Enterprise
Many students go on to related courses at university level at a range of institutions worldwide. A willingness to provide departmental support to undergraduate applications would be welcome, particularly Oxbridge for applications for Economics, PPE, Business Management or Land Economy. We are looking for a first-class teacher who will help to develop an excellent department which consists of four dedicated teachers (including this role). We would welcome applications from experienced teachers but will certainly consider candidates who have qualified more recently. Whatever the level of experience, the successful applicant should be able to offer Economics to A Level.
Staff are remunerated through the Kingston Grammar School salary scale, which tracks significantly above the national scale for teachers.
The closing date for applications is 9.00am on Friday, 20th March 2026. We reserve the right to close this vacancy and interview at any time; therefore, early applications are welcomed.
Application is by completing the KGS application form and attaching to your profile.
Prior to interview, an online search will be conducted to identify any past or current incidents or issues that might affect your suitability to work with children and undertake this role. This is in line with guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education. Please note this online search will be carried out only on publicly available information and be limited to issues relating to your suitability to work with children and/or in a school environment. Issues that arise will not automatically be a bar to your employment at this school.
Kingston Grammar School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
