PGCE Teacher of Economics & Business opportunity
Fully funded – 1 year fixed term contract (with the possibly of an extension to complete the ECT programme)
September 2026 start
We are seeking either a recent graduate or career changer to join our collaborative and successful Economics and Business department to train as teacher.
St John’s School, in partnership with the University of Buckingham, offers an employment-based route to become a qualified teacher. Trainees on the programme are in school from day one. At the end of the placement (37 weeks), they are awarded both Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). Trainees gain hands-on experience and are supported throughout by an experienced Mentor.
Entry requirements for candidates are a UK degree in a relevant subject and GCSEs in English Language or Literature and Maths at grade 4 or above or equivalent. In addition to this, candidates must demonstrate a love of their subject and a desire to work with young people in an independent co-education school for pupils aged 11 to 18.
The successful candidate will play a full and active role in the pastoral and co-curricular life of the School.
