Surbiton High School is seeking an inspiring and dedicated Temporary Teacher of French and Spanish to join our vibrant Modern Foreign Languages Department.
Teacher of MFL (French & Spanish)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Tenure: Temporary (half a term in the first instance, with the possibility of an extension). Part-time: 3 days (Mon – Wed) or 4 days (Mon – Thurs)
Salary: Competitive – based on the Surbiton High School Pay Scale
Surbiton High School is seeking an inspiring and dedicated Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages to join our thriving MFL Department. The successful candidate will be able to teach French up to A-level, while the ability to teach Spanish would be an advantage. What You’ll Be Doing
As our Teacher of MFL (French & Spanish), you will:
- Deliver inspiring lessons across KS3, GCSE and A-level.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Engage in professional development and departmental initiatives.
- Support pupils of all abilities to achieve their potential.
- Monitor progress and provide effective feedback.
- Contribute to pastoral care as a Form Tutor or Deputy Form Tutor.
- Take part in trips, enrichment activities and school events.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the School.
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from candidates who bring:
- A good honours degree in French or a related subject.
- QTS or a recognised teaching qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Strong subject knowledge and excellent classroom practice.
- The ability to teach French at KS3, GCSE and A-level.
- The ability to teach Spanish (desirable but not essential).
- A passion for languages and pupil success.
- Strong communication, organisational and ICT skills.
- A collaborative and professional approach.
- High expectations for pupils and a commitment to safeguarding.
