Queen's College

Queen's College is a co-educational boarding and day school for nearly 600 pupils aged 3 months-18 years. Everyone who visits Queen's College comments on the friendly and relaxed atmosphere. There's a real passion for learning, but pupils and staff enjoy one another's company. Exam results are excellent – some of the top in the South West.

"The spirit and heart of this very special community ensures the inclusion of every pupil across all ages and ability," said Head Teacher, Dr Lorraine Earps. "Commitment to fulfilling the potential of each individual can be found deeply rooted in every member of staff, all of whom share a joined-up approach to each child’s personal educational journey."

A Level success A Level results are excellent with 78% of students gaining A*, A or B grades and most students getting their first choice of university including Oxbridge candidates. In addition, Queen’s remains one of the top UK independent schools in terms of value added, aiming for a grade above what pupils would normally achieve at A Level by providing excellent teaching, small class sizes and true individual support.

The school is well known for fantastic results in the creative and performing arts. There is a wide variety of musical groups on offer in school and and it even has its own prefssional Oerchestra-in-Residence, Southern Sinfonia.

Surrounded by the beautiful Exmoor and Dartmoor national parks it is not surprising that Queen’s is a centre of excellence for outdoor pursuits with opportunities for students to ride, canoe, dive and sail. Sport is strong too with national success in hockey, horse riding, athletics and swimming in recent years and more than 20 students representing their country.

Pupils can board from 7-18 years old and a strong team of boarding houseparents means pupils are well cared for in a home away from home and that parents always have someone to contact if there are ever any worries or concerns.

There are major road and rail connections to Heathrow (2 hours) and Bristol Airport (45 mins). The school also has a strong spiritual foundation and welcomes pupils of all faiths. The Chaplain is available to any member of the Queen’s community who needs a sympathetic ear or just a chat with a mug of coffee as are the School Counsellors.
