The spire of Salisbury Cathedral is the distinctive backdrop to this remarkable School where children develop the love of learning, the self-confidence and an awareness of others which are all attributes that they will need, and which will help them to flourish in their future lives in senior school and beyond.

More than anything our focus is on the pastoral care and guidance that we provide for all our boys and girls; it is a place where personality grows. In education, happiness and confidence is King! SCS children may find their unique sense of character through the music they sing, on the sports field, in their academic lives or one of the many opportunities available to them - probably in a number of different areas. 

Sport is a major aspect of life at SCS, with regular practices, fixtures and tournaments. Pupils prioritise teamwork both on and off the pitch; they display commitment and passion in their play, and show resilience and positivity towards challenges and setbacks. With a number of county players within their peer groups, and a wide range of opportunities from high-quality specialist coaches, pupils develop high levels of tenacity, determination and self-esteem.

Pupils transfer, mainly at 13 to a diverse range of schools. Last academic year, 14 pupils in a cohort of 18 achieved Academic, All-Rounder, Music, Drama, DT and Sport scholarships to leading public schools, with 3 obtaining Specialist Music Awards at Wells Cathedral School, one of the leading music schools in the country. Our recent ISI report notes that teaching “sets high expectations and standards and the quality of pupils’ personal development is excellent.” Our pupils’ individual talents and strengths are nurtured, and they are carefully prepared for examinations and interviews for the next phase in their education and indeed, for later life.
