Godolphin School

The Good Schools Guide "It seems an idyllic school , that offers the very best in single sex education".

Tatler  "Applications to this historic girls’ school on the edge of Salisbury have increased by 35 per cent over the last six years, and one can see why. Girls are notably ‘chilled, accomplished and happy’ and Godolphin prides itself on ‘success without stress''.

Muddy Stilettos  "An inspiring day and boarding school on the outskirts of Salisbury, perfect for girls aged 3-18 with a serious 'can-do' attitude".

Godolphin praises individuality and creativity and is passionate about educating girls for the 21st century.  Boarders and day girls live together and there is a strong sense of community with a committment to pastoral care.

Godolphin has had a number of notable successes in the last few years. In 2019, the School was named South West Independent Secondary School of the Year by The Sunday Times. They also received a Gold Artsmark Award accredited by Arts Council England in recognition of the high standard we achieve in Art, Drama and Music.

Located in the cathedral city of Salisbury, Godolphin is one of the oldest girls’ boarding schools in the UK. The School, which educates girls from 3 – 18, has a strong sense of identity, something that they want to pass on to every one of their girls. They encourage students to follow their own path, discover what they love and explore the many opportunities available to them.

Godolphin’s public results year-on-year are remarkably consistent, reflecting both the hard work of students and the quality of their teaching. With 92% of our Upper Sixth going on to their first choice of university last year.

The Godolphin boarding community continues to thrive as we offer mid-week, weekly and full-time boarding. After a major refurbishment a few years ago, Cooper House now offers enhanced boarding facilities and can accommodate ninety students from Third Year through to Fifth Year. The school has also been acknowledged as a top twenty Girls’ Boarding School in 2019.

Godolphin is clear and modern in outlook as they prepare students for the 21st Century; Yet they remain true to their founder Elizabeth Godolphin who championed her vision to provide an education for girls. The School motto Franc Ha Leal Eto Ge, (Frank and loyal art thou’) reflects the School's core values and the Godolphin community still espouses the values of honesty, openness and loyalty three hundred years on.
