Working weeks: Term time (33 weeks per year) plus six weeks in the holidays – 39 weeks per year.
Working hours: Hours will fluctuate depending on the requirements of the summer/winter timetables

The role:

You will work in a team to prepare and deliver practical work across the department including the maintenance and safety of equipment and other resources. This involves maintaining equipment levels in laboratories and the prep room stores. You will comply with health & safety regulations and laboratory best practice, leading by example and encouraging others to do the same.

The skills:

The position would be ideal for someone with relevant or complimentary laboratory techniques, ideally with experience in a chemistry laboratory as a technician or student. You will be proactive, taking initiative to provide a professional service and maintain a safe environment. You would be someone who enjoys being a supportive team, passionate about your subject, taking pride in contributing to the delivery of excellent science education within our vibrant and historic School.

The environment: Harrow School is situated in Harrow on the Hill, northwest London, and is one of the best-known schools in the world. Around 835 boys study at Harrow and live in the School’s 12 boarding houses. The Chemistry Department consists of nine masters and three support staff, and is housed in a purpose-built facility, opened in 2024.
