Bury Grammar School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, well qualified Teacher of General Science to join our vibrant and highly successful‑ Science Faculty on a 1-year Fixed Term Contract from September 2026. We welcome full‑time, part‑time, or job share applications.
This is an excellent opportunity for both Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners.
The Department
Science at Bury Grammar School is thriving, well‑resourced and academically ambitious. Each of our three disciplines; Biology, Chemistry and Physics, are taught separately from Key Stage 3 through to A Level. The Role
The successful candidate will:
Teach General Science across KS3 and KS4, delivering high quality, engaging lessons.
Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress.
Contribute to ongoing curriculum development.
Support pupils’ academic progress and wider personal development.
Participate actively in the wider life of Bury Grammar School, including enrichment.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a teacher who:
Holds a relevant Science based‑ degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Has strong subject knowledge and confidence teaching at KS3 and KS4.
Specialist knowledge weighted more heavily in Chemistry or Biology would be desirable, but not essential.
Has strong organisational skills, and the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.
Is committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
