Wycombe Abbey seeks caring and flexible Relief Matrons to provide ad hoc support across our boarding Houses.

This important role supports the pastoral care and daily life of pupils, helping to create a warm, well‑organised and welcoming environment where girls feel supported, safe and able to thrive.

Reports to: Senior Resident Matron and Housemistress.

Contract: This is a permanent, zero‑hours, term‑time only contract. The first three months will be a probationary period. Holiday pay is included within the hourly rate.

Hours of Work: Hours will be undertaken as agreed with the Senior Resident Matron. This role is suited to individuals able to work ad hoc hours to cover sickness and holidays, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends during term time.

As Relief Matron, you will play a key role in supporting boarding Houses, working flexibly across the School to provide cover and assistance as required. Responsibilities include supporting House routines, providing pastoral care for pupils, maintaining a warm and welcoming environment, assisting with the dispensary, supporting housekeeping tasks and contributing to the smooth running of House life. This role is ideal for a proactive and caring individual who enjoys working with young people and can adapt quickly to different environments.
