Winchester College is looking to appoint four Campus Cleaners to join our dedicated Facilities team in both full-time and part-time roles. This is a vital position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and operational readiness of the College’s non-boarding buildings, including administrative offices and sports facilities. The successful candidates will be reliable, energetic, and highly organised individuals who take pride in their work and are capable of working both independently and as part of a collaborative team to support the daily life of the school.

The Role

Working under the day-to-day supervision of the Facilities Team Leaders and Facilities Manager, the Campus Cleaners are responsible for ensuring all school buildings and campus areas are maintained to the highest standards.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Campus Cleanliness: Deep cleaning of offices and sports facilities, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming, as well as maintaining the appearance of campus paths.
  • Event & Operational Support: Preparing venues for school activities (exams, music, and open days) and assisting with the relocation of furniture and event kits.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Conducting routine safety checks (fire extinguishers, emergency lighting) and reporting any defects or hazards to the Facilities team.
  • Compliance: Keeping up to date with modern cleaning methods and completing regular Health & Safety and COSHH training.

  • Attention to Detail: A commitment to high standards and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Physical Stamina: Capable of meeting the physical requirements of the role, including lifting furniture and equipment.
  • Experience: While prior commercial cleaning or COSHH knowledge is an advantage, full training is provided for the right candidates.

What We Offer

Start Date: Flexible start date, with a preference for commencement as soon as possible. All positions are 52-week contracts with salary paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.

Full-Time Opportunity (Position 1)

  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week, normally Monday to Friday, 6am–2pm.
  • Salary: £24,472.50 per annum.

Part-Time Morning Role (Position 2)

  • Hours: 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7am–12pm.
  • Salary: £16,315.00 per annum.

Weekend Specialist Roles (Positions 3 & 4)

  • Hours: 10 or 12.5 hours per week, Saturday and Sunday between 7am–2pm.
  • Salary: £6,526 (10hrs) or £8,157.50 (12.5hrs) per annum.
