We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an amiable and student-focused Learning Support Tutor to support Science in the Senior School, encompassing KS3 and GCSE (A level would be advantageous, but not a requirement).

The ideal applicant will possess the ability to recognise the individual needs of every student and have an understanding approach to working with students who have specific difficulties, or f you are a recent Science graduate looking to begin a career in learning support and SEN, we'd also be keen to speak with you.

Role responsibilities:

  • Developing students’ learning working within small groups and at times on a one-to-one basis, with a specific emphasis on specialist support in Science
  • An ability to support Science up to A level is desirable, but not essential.
  • Setting and marking appropriately differentiated work
  • Liaising with the Head of LS on the needs and progress of individual pupils
  • Maintaining close liaison with parents
  • Maintaining full lessons plans and records appropriate to each student and files showing attainment and progress
  • Attendance at LS parents’ evenings
  • Liaison with Heads of Department, houseparents and tutors on any students of mutual concern

Essential experience, skills and qualities

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a bachelors degree in a relevant subject.
  • Have previous experience of supporting and developing children with a range of learning needs.
  • Be innovative, proactive, organised and place the needs of the young people at the forefront of everything they do.
  • Have a genuine interest in ensuring every pupil reaches their potential with an understanding approach to working with students who have specific difficulties
  • Have a very strong work ethic and commitment to getting work done to a high standard and in a tight time frame
  • An ability to recognize the individual needs of every student, promote transferrable skills and to build confidence
  • The ability to work well in a team, but also to take the initiative where appropriate
  • Flexibility is a key attribute for this role
