About this Role

Reporting to the Head of Safeguarding, the Safeguarding Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring that safeguarding records, processes and meetings are managed accurately, confidentially and in line with statutory guidance. This is a key position within the safeguarding team, requiring excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and a calm, professional approach when working with sensitive information.

The role involves close collaboration with safeguarding leads, pastoral teams and wider College staff, supporting the effective use of CPOMS (Child Protection Online Management System) and contributing to the smooth running of safeguarding and pastoral meetings across the College.

This position is ideal for an experienced administrator who is discreet, proactive and committed to supporting the welfare and wellbeing of children and young people.

This is a term-time only position, plus two additional weeks. The role is for 22.2 hours per week, to be worked Monday to Friday, with working hours to be agreed. There may be an occasional requirement to work additional hours.

This is a fixed-term position until Easter 2027, or until the postholder returns, whichever is sooner.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Be educated to A Level standard, with GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4 or above in English and Maths.
  • Have proven experience working as a PA or Administrator, with strong minute‑taking skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, including confident telephone manner.
  • Have outstanding attention to detail and a proven ability to maintain accurate, confidential records.
  • Be highly organised, with strong time‑management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Be confident and proficient in using IT systems and digital platforms.
  • Show the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Be flexible, proactive and able to remain calm and logical in pressurised situations.
  • Demonstrate absolute discretion and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality at all times.
  • Have empathy with the independent school sector and a genuine commitment to safeguarding.

Experience of working in a school environment, safeguarding or pastoral setting, and familiarity with CPOMS and iSAMS would be desirable, although training will be provided.

In Return, We Offer:

  • A competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Complimentary dining during term time.
  • Membership of the College’s contributory pension scheme and access to the BUPA medical scheme.
  • Opportunities for professional development, including further training in theatre technologies and skills.
  • Free on-site parking and access to outstanding facilities across the College.
  • Access to wellbeing initiatives
  • Flexible working arrangements are available, including occasional home working.
