We are delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and inspiring Spanish Language Assistant to join our thriving Modern Foreign Languages Department from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a fluent Spanish speaker with a passion for language, culture and education to play a central role in supporting pupils across the Sixth Form and Fifth Form. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Spanish to deliver engaging speaking support, cultural enrichment and examination preparation within a high-achieving and forward-thinking department.

The role would suit a graduate considering a future career in education and languages, or an experienced language assistant looking to immerse themselves in the life of a busy and successful independent school.

The Role

The Spanish Language Assistant will provide individual and small-group speaking sessions for Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth pupils, supporting the development of spoken fluency, grammatical accuracy and cultural understanding in line with the AQA A Level specification.

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver weekly speaking sessions for all Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth pupils
  • Support pupils with key vocabulary, idiomatic language and thematic content relating to Spain and the Hispanic world
  • Prepare Upper Sixth pupils for their Individual Research Project (IRP) and Paper 3 speaking examination
  • Conduct and support mock speaking examinations and formal assessments
  • Assist with Fifth Form speaking support sessions
  • Contribute to wider departmental teaching through ad hoc lesson support and cultural enrichment activities
  • Plan and assess individual and group sessions in accordance with departmental schemes of work
  • Track pupil progress and provide feedback to the Head of Department
  • Support the preparation of revision resources and independent learning materials

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to contribute to the wider co-curricular life of the department and College community through activities such as Spanish clubs, film evenings, cultural events and open mornings.
